There’s something special about designing a city home that feels like a true retreat—one that embraces warmth, layers, and thoughtful details while maintaining a refined elegance. Our Upper Manhattan project was all about that balance, blending natural textures, sculptural forms, and curated materials to create a sanctuary in the heart of the city.
This 3-bedroom, 3-bath apartment was designed for a young family looking for a space that felt sophisticated yet livable. With a mix of statement stone, textural wallpaper, and handcrafted elements, this home tells a story of effortless luxury and comfort.

A Kitchen Designed to Be Both Sculptural & Functional
Right from the start, we knew the kitchen had to be a showstopper in our Upper East Side Interior Design Renovation. The Calacatta Caldia waterfall island became the heart of the space—its soft veining and luminous surface adding movement and elegance.
Warm wood cabinetry, brushed brass hardware, and layered lighting complete the look, creating a space that feels both elevated and welcoming. The open layout encourages connection, making it perfect for family breakfasts or late-night gatherings with friends.

The Living Room: A Study in Layered Neutrals
Neutrals are anything but boring—when layered thoughtfully, they create depth, warmth, and timeless appeal. In the living room, we leaned into an earthy, collected palette with plush upholstery, textural textiles, and a custom travertine coffee table that anchors the space.
One of our favorite elements? The interplay of light and shadow. Large city windows flood the space with natural light, highlighting the richness of the materials and the quiet sophistication of the design.

The Primary Suite: A Moody, Serene Escape
For the primary bedroom, we wanted to create a space that felt enveloping and serene—a retreat from the energy of the city. We chose a rich, moody wallcovering to bring depth and intimacy to the space, balancing it with plush bedding, soft lighting, and sculptural nightstands that feel both modern and timeless.
The layers continue in the ensuite bathroom, where a combination of natural stone, brushed brass fixtures, and warm wood cabinetry creates a spa-like experience. A floating marble vanity and arched mirror add a touch of elegance, while subtle pattern in the tilework keeps things visually interesting without overwhelming the senses.
An Artful Approach to Pattern & Wallpaper
We love incorporating pattern in a way that feels effortless and personal. In this home, wallpaper became the perfect tool to add depth and visual interest. The powder room features a striking, artful print that transforms the space into a jewel-box moment, while the family room embraces a moody, textured wallcovering that makes the room feel cocoon-like and serene.
